The art & science of soiling sensor placement

How many soiling stations are needed for a particular site? Determining correct soiling sensor placement is both an art and a science, but this case study should provide a good overview of the various factors we examine with each new project.

CASE STUDY

Manual cleaning comparison

Comparing the soiling loss measurement of Fracsun’s ARES device with the inverter outputs of two similar PV arrays, wherein one of the arrays is manually cleaned
periodically and the other is naturally soiled. In this study, we see how closely ARES soiling loss measurements correlates to inverter measurements.
